Kananaskis Country Golf Course

Kananaskis Country Golf Course, nestled in the heart of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, is a true Canadian classic—where pristine wilderness, glacier-fed creeks, and snow-capped peaks converge to create an unforgettable golf experience. Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and reopened in 2018 after an extensive restoration by Gary Browning, this 36-hole facility features two championship layouts: Mount Kidd and Mount Lorette, each named after the towering peaks that frame them.

Both courses embody Jones’s philosophy of integrating golf seamlessly with the natural landscape. Generous fairways, thoughtfully placed bunkers, and subtly sloped greens make the courses accessible yet strategically engaging, offering something for every level of player. The par-72 layouts play between 7,000 and 7,100 yards, winding through dense pine forests and alongside the rushing Kananaskis River.

Standout holes include the par-3 4th on Mount Lorette, which plays across water to a green surrounded by forest and mountains, and the par-5 16th on Mount Kidd, a sweeping dogleg that tempts bold play with spectacular scenery at every turn.

What truly sets Kananaskis apart is its serenity. With no surrounding development and limited tee times, the experience feels immersive and peaceful—like a private round in the heart of the Rockies. Whether playing Mount Kidd or Mount Lorette, golfers are treated to a pure, scenic, and soulful round that captures the essence of mountain golf.
